Before learning he had cancer, Dennis was always quick to lend others a helping hand. Whether it be rewiring a house, fixing a car, lending the use of his tools, or needing advice- Dennis was the go-to guy.
We would like to honor his giving ways by helping to continue the fight against bladder cancer- a disease commonly known as the “old man cancer”, that often gets over-looked for research grants and funds. Bladder cancer is the fourth most common type of cancer among men in the United States, with over 69,000 new cases diagnosed in 2011 alone.
Throughout his three year fight, Dennis was very proactive in researching bladder cancer trials and treatments. He was adamant that more could be done to help eradicate this disease. We’re continuing his fight- please help us do what we can to ensure that bladder cancer can be given the heave-ho, and that other families get to enjoy their loved ones for years to come.
The Course
The out and back 5K (3.1 mile) course begins at Gibby’s Irish Pub on the corner of Lake Street, just down the hill from Breitbeck Park. It continues up the hill on Lake Street, with inspiring views of Lake Ontario, the break wall and the lighthouse, winding in between the baseball fields and the park parking lot. It continues up Liberty Street and makes a right onto Schuyler Street, turning right just before 1st avenue and traversing through the NRG plant access road. It then makes a right, going up the hill on George Washington Boulevard, passing the back entrance of SUNY Oswego. At the top of the hill, between Draper and Baylis streets is the turnaround. Much of the second half of the course is downhill, tracing our steps back to the fast finish coming down the hill, with the lake on our left.

If you cannot make the event You can sign up for the Vitual Run and Run a 5k from anywhere in the world. We will send you your bib and shirt.
